MUTOH unveiled its environmentally friendly water-based technology at this year’s drupa

MUTOH Europe, a part of wide-format printer manufacturer MUTOH INDUSTRIES, has launched its new digital printer; HydrAton 1642, a roll-to-roll printer which integrates water-based UV technology.

The printer is 64” wide and represents a new technology segment for MUTOH as it includes print/dry technology and a unique ink film formation process on the printed media developed by MUTOH and Fujifilm’s AQUAFUZE ink technology team.

With two AccuFine piezo drop-on-demand print heads, the HydrAton 1642 can print on a large range of substrates without the need of a pre-coat primer or optimiser, including paper, synthetic fabrics, technical fabrics, technical textiles, heat-sensitive eco-friendly substrates, including PVC.

Fujifilm’s AQUAFUZE ink is a patented technology which combines the benefits of UV LED and water-based inkjet technologies in one ink formulation. The ink includes low temperature drying and is described by MUTOH as having “excellent jetting stability”.

MUTOH exhibited a number of products from its wide-format, direct-to-shape, and braille ranges at this year’s drupa including the XpertJet 1462UF, the ValueJet 628MP, and the XpertJet 1682SR Pro.
